What is a comprehensive plan?

The comprehensive plan, also known as a general plan, master plan or land use plan, is a document designed to guide the future actions of a community. It presents a vision for the future, with long-range goals and objectives for all activities that affects the local government.

Who creates the comprehensive plan?
The City of Edgerton has hired Confluence to create the Envision Edgerton Plan, but it is truly residents and community stakeholders that put together the ideas and vision for the future.

What is typically included in a comprehensive plan?

A comprehensive plan consists of several components:

-Mapping (existing conditions, future land use plan, small area plans)

-Inventory of existing conditions

  • Natural resources / open space / conservation
  • Historical / cultural identification and protection
  • Housing
  • Economic development
  • Transportation and mobility
  • Services and facilities

-Goals, policies and action items
