Backyard Chickens: What You Need To Know

Kara BanksCity News

Thinking about adding a chicken flock to your backyard? The City of Edgerton allows residents to set up a coop at their homes with a permit.

Families can have up to six hens on properties under one acre. No roosters are allowed under the urban chicken permit.

A chicken coop, run, or chicken tractor is required in your backyard and the birds cannot run loose on your property. Keeping of chickens is for use of the owner and is not for profit.

Permits are required annually and expire one year after date of issuance.
