Budget

The budget sets the maximum amount of money that the City can spend each year. The budget details how the City uses its resources to meet community priorities and organizational objectives.  Check out this video that explains the budget process.

The revenue neutral rate (RNR) is the tax rate that would generate the same property tax revenue as levied the previous tax year, using the current tax year’s total assessed valuation.

As a Johnson County property owner, your total tax bill is distributed to multiple jurisdictions including, but not limited to:

• State
• County
• City
• School district
• Library
• Park and Recreation district

Please note a rise in appraised property value can bring an increase in property tax revenue – even if the mill levy rate goes down.  Visit Johnson County and the State of Kansas for more information about the RNR and appraisal process.
