Assistant City Administrator

City of Edgerton, KS

Edgerton seeks an experienced, creative and collaborative local government professional to serve as the City’s Assistant City Administrator. The ideal candidate will possess outstanding leadership, personnel management and technical skills as he/she oversees the City’s human resources and other administration functions. This candidate will be an effective communicator comfortable with many different audiences, and will be a motivated self-starter who is organized, is able to handle multiple priorities and identifies creative solutions critical to oversee the implementation of the Governing Body’s vision for the community.

The ideal candidate will be a strongly committed individual with a positive record of achievement and a history of developing construction working relationships across all departments. A service-oriented manager who respects all employees, the Assistant City Administrator will foster a culture of accountability and maintain high morale throughout the organization. A strong political acumen and experience with working with elected officials will be essential.

The selected candidate must hold a bachelor’s degree in public administration, business administration, or a related field and have five to seven years of progressively responsible related experience, including supervisory experience. A master’s degree in public administration or business administration is preferred. Residency within the City of Edgerton is not required.

City Clerk

The City of Edgerton seeks an experienced City Clerk. This is a position responsible for maintaining all official city records, ordinances, resolutions, contracts and municipal code. As a City officer, this person should possess excellent communications, organizational, and public relations skills.

The successful candidate will serve as the Freedom of Information Officer and is responsible for all aspects of compliance with the Kansas Open Records Act and Kansas Open Meetings Act. The City Clerk directs and coordinates the official City records and archives and updates the City’s Code and Policy manuals.

The selected candidate must have a bachelor’s degree in public or business administration or related field. Experience in a municipal setting is preferred. Candidates should also have four years of progressively responsible related experience or any combination of education, training, and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Candidates who are Certified Municipal Clerks are preferred.
