The City of Edgerton launched a new Senior Property Tax Rebate Program in 2024. This program is designed to alleviate some of the burden of home ownership for seniors due to rising property values. The rebate is available only for the City-portion of your property taxes.

The program opens on April 1, 2024 and applications will be accepted until September 30, 2024 or until funds run out. Qualifying seniors must show proof of fully paid property taxes at the time of application. Applications will be processed in order received.

Eligibility Requirements

A property tax refund is available for homeowners 65 or older. The refund is only available for owner-occupied homes and you must be current on property taxes and any special assessments.

The maximum rebate is based on the average appraised value of a home in Edgerton. For 2024, the maximum rebate that a homeowner can receive is $715.51.

For homeowners with a mortgage, property taxes are often paid in two installments. The first payment is made in December of the prior year and the second installment in May of the current year. Rebates are not available until both payments have been processed.
