Residents gave the City of Edgerton high marks for satisfaction in our recent Citizen Survey. The City continues to rank above the national average for the overall quality of services provided by the City, overall image of the City, and overall value that you receive for your tax dollars.
Results from the survey were shared with the City Council in July. Nearly a third of all households in Edgerton responded to the survey, which was sent to every household in early 2024. The six-page survey was conducted by ETC Institute.
“As a consultant who has administered surveys like this for communities across the country for the past 15 years, I am continually impressed by the City’s strong performance in key service areas that we know have a major impact on overall perceptions, consistently surpassing the U.S. Average by a significant margin,” says Ryan Murray, Assistant Director of Community Research with ETC. “City Leaders and City Staff have demonstrated their strong ability to plan strategically by regularly updating the survey to ensure decisions are aligned with the ever-changing needs and priorities of the residents. This commitment to excellence and responsiveness to residents highlights the City’s dedication to using residents’ voices to shape the future of their community.”
Residents also gave high marks to our public safety partners at Fire District #1 and the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office. 91% of respondents say they are satisfied with the overall quality of fire protection and 79% said they are satisfied with the overall quality of our contracted police protection.
“We all know that Edgerton is a great place to live and raise a family,” says Edgerton Mayor Donald Roberts. “Thanks to everyone who took the time to fill out a survey. We will now use these survey results to prioritize projects and plan for the future.”
Among the priorities that residents want to see the most emphasis over the next two years, the survey found that overall maintenance of City streets, buildings and facilities tops the list. Other high priority items include:
- Overall enforcement of City codes and ordinances
- Overall effectiveness of community planning and development
- Quality of City parks and facilities
