Meat Inferno returns to Downtown Edgerton October 4-5, 2024. This Kansas City Barbeque Society-sanctioned event draws competitive BBQ teams from across the country and even internationally to Edgerton.
Friday night is Community Night with activities for the whole family. There will be a Kids ‘Q cooking competition, live music, and special street performances.
There will also be a BBQ dinner available for purchase from M2 Smokin’ Q, one of the competition teams. The dinner will be $15 per plate and includes chicken or brisket, jalapeno popper potato salad, baked beans, a roll, and water. Tipsy Tavern will be serving up drinks for purchase. Food will be available starting at 5:00 p.m.
On Saturday, the competition teams will compete for a $10,000 total purse during the Masters contest. They’ll cook up chicken, brisket, ribs and pork. At the same time, local backyard grill masters will be grilling up the best pork chops during the Edgerton Pork Chop Challenge. The top prize is $200.
The meat for both the Edgerton Pork Chop Challenge and the Kids ‘Q is generously donated by Price Chopper.
Road Closures and Parking Restrictions
Several roads will be closed during the contest to keep everyone safe between 7:00 AM on October 4, 2024 until 6:00 PM on October 5, 2024:
- East 4th Street between Morgan Street to the alleyway one half block south of East Nelson Street
- Nelson Street between East 5th Street and East 3rd Street
- East Hulett Street between East 4th Street and East 3rd Street
Parking will also be restricted near the event to allow for emergency vehicles to pass. Parking restrictions are in effect from Thursday, October 3, 2024 at 12:00 P.M. to Monday, October 7, 2024 at 12:00 P.M. on both sides of the following streets:
- East 5th Street: East McCarty Street to East Nelson Street
- East McCarty Street: East 4th Street to East 5th Street
- East Hulett Street: East 4th Street to East 5th Street
- East 4th Street: from the alleyway one half block south of East Nelson Street to East Martin Street
- East 3rd Street: from the alleyway one half block North of East Nelson Street to the alleyway one half block South of East Nelson Street
Parking will be limited to one side of the street on Thursday, October 3, 2024 at 12:00 P.M. to Monday, October 7, 2024 at 12:00 P.M. on the following streets:
- North side of East McCarty Street: from East 3rd Street to East 4th Street
- East side of East 3rd Street: from 56 Highway (East Morgan Street) south to the alleyway one half block south of East Hulett Street
- West side of East 3rd Street: from alleyway half block south of East Nelson Street to East Martin Street
- West side of 5th Street: from East Nelson Street to East Martin Street
- North side of East Martin Street: from East 5th Street to East 4th Street
- South side of East Martin Street: from East 3rd Street to East 4th Street
- South side of East Nelson Street: East 2nd Street to East 3rd Street
