Demolition, Construction Planned in Downtown

Kara Banks City News

A new community gathering space is coming to Downtown Edgerton. The Greenspace will be located at the corner of 3rd and Nelson, where the yellow house and red brick garage currently sit. The new building will feature a gymnasium, meeting rooms, an outdoor stage and splashpad.

Making Room

Before construction can begin, contractors will be removing the yellow house and red brick garage. Demolition is expected in early June. Once the buildings have been torn down and debris removed, the area will be fenced off. For your safety, please do not enter the fenced off area.

Construction

The City is currently soliciting bids for a construction team to build the approximately 13,000 sq. feet building. A contractor is expected to be selected in July. Watch for details about a groundbreaking ceremony this summer.

The lawn between the new building and the Library will remain. However, access may be temporarily limited during some work. A few of the trees in the current greenspace will be removed, but the rest will remain.

Once work begins, construction should last 14-18 months. During that time, please do not enter the construction zone for your safety.
