Mayor’s Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony To Be Held Virtually In 2020

Kara BanksCity News

As the number of COVID-19 cases continues to rise across Johnson County, the City of Edgerton plans to transition the Mayor’s Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony to a virtual event.

Please join us on Facebook on December 4th for a virtual tree lighting. The video will also be posted here on edgertonks.org/holidays.

Families are invited to share a holiday greeting video that will be shown during the tree lighting. Sing a carol, show off your decorations or just give us a quick wave! Go to edgertonks.org/holidays to submit your video.

While we will dearly miss seeing everyone in-person, we want to protect our friends and neighbors this holiday season.

Other Ways to Celebrate the Holidays in Edgerton

The annual Christmas Tree Decorating Contest is back for the third year. Trees are available now for $40. All of the proceeds go to the Mayor’s Christmas Tree Fund, which helps our fellow community members with various expenses and desperately needed projects.

This year’s theme is Christmas Around The World. The decorated trees are due back to City Hall on Nov. 30th. Voting will begin Dec. 1st and run through Dec. 6th. Winners will be announced on December 7th.

You can also sign up for the annual Holiday Home Decorating Contest. Nominate yourself or your neighbor for their amazing light display this holiday season. Nominations for the best lit homes are due on Wednesday, Dec. 9th. Winners will be announced December 18th.

Sign up for both at edgertonks.org/holidays.
