Budget Public Hearings Set for August 28th

The Edgerton City Council will host public hearings on Thursday, August 28th during their regular business meeting to review the proposed FY 2026 budget and to decide if the City will exceed the revenue neutral rate.

This is the public’s opportunity to share their thoughts and opinions about the City’s budget for the coming year. Council members had an opportunity in early July to review the budget before the scheduled public hearings later this month.

The proposed budget includes a 0.2% reduction in the mill rate to 29.602 while maintaining focus on core resident priorities including streets, facilities, law enforcement, and development. Since 2009, the City of Edgerton has lowered the mill rate by 14 mills.

This budget maintains funding for the popular H.O.M.E. Improvements Grant and Senior Property Tax Rebate Program, which directly help Edgerton residents without any additional administrative costs. Further, the FY 2026 budget continues funding for popular community events and new active recreation programming in The Greenspace to maintain our high quality of life. The budget also includes additional dollars for the America 250 celebration next summer.

The City Council meeting begins at 7:00 PM on August 28 at Edgerton City Hall, 404. E. Nelson St. Residents who cannot attend but would like to submit comments on the budget can email [email protected].
