StreetScan vehicle assessing roads in Edgerton

Kara BanksCity News

The City of Edgerton is beginning a new street maintenance project to assess the streets using a StreetScan vehicle. The City has partnered with Citylogix perform an AI-assisted Pavement Condition Index (PCI) to help grade the quality of all roads within City limits.

Starting as early as October 25 (weather-permitting), you may notice a vehicle driving down your road loaded with cameras and sensors. Citylogix employs vehicle-mounted sensing technology to assess road conditions in normal traffic flow. Citylogix collects LiDAR/imagery data and utilizes 360° imaging technology to measure road defects, such as cracking, bumps, and potholes.

This information will then be used to score the road condition, helping our Public Works Department to use the right maintenance activity at the right time. Public Works can identify and prioritize repair needs before street conditions deteriorate and need more expensive fixes, stretching taxpayer dollars.

If you have questions about the PCI project, please contact Trey Whitaker at City Hall at 913-893-6231.
