Vehicles Allowed With Permit

Under Ordinance No. 2086, the City of Edgerton is now permitting golf carts, low-speed vehicles, work-site utility vehicles (side-by-sides), and micro utility trucks to be driven on any Edgerton street with a speed limit of less than 35 mph.

No straddled vehicles, like ATVs or four-wheelers, are allowed on City streets.

Requirements
  • Drivers must hold a valid driver's license without restriction
  • Vehicles must have operational seatbelts and child safety seats/booster seat regulations apply
  • Vehicles must have headlights, taillights, brake lights, turn signals, and at least one rear view mirror installed on the vehicle
  • Vehicles may only be driven between sunrise and sunset, except on nights of City-sponsored events
Permits

All unconventional vehicles must be registered and permitted through the City of Edgerton.  Permits are valid for the calendar year.

If a driver violates traffic laws or drives in a dangerous or unsafe manner, the permit can be revoked. Drivers may appeal the decision to the Governing Body by filing a written appeal within five business days of the written notice of revocation.
