Sewer Rehab Project Begins Feb. 27

Kara BanksCity News

A new sewer rehabilitation project starts Monday, February 27.  This is a continuation of the 2021 CDBG project that repaired sewer lines around the W. 7th and Nelson Street area.

Crews with Tetra Tech will begin assessing manholes in streets, alleyways, and backyards in the area between Nelson and Martin Streets from E. 5th to W. 4th streets.  They will be lifting manhole lids to perform the evaluations.

Crews will also use an acoustic listening device to search for blockages underground. The tests take 1-2 minutes each and are moderately loud.  Anyone outdoors or with windows open may hear the tests.

This work is expected to be complete by Friday, March 3.

Tetra Tech crews wear uniforms, and their vehicles have Tetra Tech logos on them. A Tetra Tech employee will never ask to enter your residence but may ask to enter your backyard or the exterior of your property where a system structure location is shown to exist.

The 2023 CDBG Sewer Project aims to reduce the amount of stormwater that flows into the sanitary sewer system. By lowering the amount of stormwater that is treated at the City’s wastewater treatment facility, costs are reduced for our customers.
