EDGERTON, Kan. – (Aug. 20, 2025) A Johnson County judge has ruled in favor of the City of Edgerton in a lawsuit filed by Attorney General Kris Kobach over annexations the City approved in December of 2020.
Judge David Hauber ruled that the State did not prove their case and that the property in question “was not a narrow corridor” under the law, adding the suit was apparently filed in an effort to “reverse a rezoning of the annexed properties which is not the function of this court.”
The City of Edgerton scrupulously follows the legal requirements for annexation and zoning of property in its jurisdiction. It continues to openly and fairly address every legal issue presented in the appropriate forum.
“Edgerton has followed and will continue to follow state laws regarding annexation. The Attorney General’s suit was without merit and we’ve known that for years. I’m happy to see this wasteful abuse of taxpayer dollars finally come to an end,” says Mayor Donald Roberts.
The City of Edgerton thanks the Court for its time and review of this matter.
